Garden Gates
gates
This pair of garden gates were commissioned to enclose the entrance to a traditional cottager fruit garden in a settlement occupied since the iron age at least.

The decorative shapes reflect Iron Age shields and also suggest petals or leaves of  fruiting trees.

Here are the gates having been oiled, hung in the trellis fence at the entrance to the garden.
In time they will take on a more weathered colour like the timber framing around them.
