pair of garden gates were commissioned to enclose the entrance to a
traditional cottager fruit garden in a settlement occupied since the
iron age at least.
The decorative shapes reflect Iron Age shields and also suggest petals or leaves of fruiting trees.
|Here are the gates having been oiled, hung in the trellis fence at the entrance to the garden.
In time they will take on a more weathered colour like the timber framing around them.
