Loft Conversion |
|
|
![loftwindow](images/LoftWindoW.jpg) |
|
In the spacious loft of
this end terrace victorian house, this conversion to a room
created a versatile home office and spare bedroom. Using the end
gable for fenestration allows a more conventional feel to the room than
would be the case with either roof lights or dormers. |

The party wall against
the neighbours, featuring two chimney columns, was simply cleaned up
and repointed with lime mortar. The rich red colour of the bricks gives
the room a warmth which could not be done with other decorative
techniques. Victorian matchboarding from the original stairwell
has been re-used here for cupboard doors, awaiting stripping. |

Around

particular the finial on the newel post, a "New Age" adornment
for the Astrologer client. |
